It's been in the planning stage for a couple of years and this spring it finally got started... Laura needs a place to ride and work horses, and the some of the others have hopes to rope calves for fun; so the latest improvement to the farm is the start of an arena. Silas did the first step of prepping the site, by scraping up the area and getting down to a more solid base. Currently they have posts set for one end, and part of both sides. Now that hay making has started there is a good chance that this is all the further it will get for a while. However, Laura now has a better place to ride than she did before, and has been putting the space to good use with Poco. :) 

At long last here you go!  Lots of animal pictures for those who have been looking forward to them. :)  The arrival of all these animals has been keeping us busy for the past several weeks.  Dairy Calves: These are just a few of the first calves- we've had about 45 already, and have 15 or more on the way yet.  We had a set of twin heifers this year- one of them was a really little squirt. The pictures I took of them are blurry though, so I won't share them in this post. (Side note: We've got a bull calves for sale right now... if you are interested, let us know) Lambs: Lambing season went quite smoothly overall. Ended up with just over 50 lambs, and they are currently on pasture with their mamas...  "Hello" Kids: While it's up for debate, there is a good chance that these are the cutest babies on the farm... There are 15 of these skipping, jumping, and hopping along side the herd of goats who are cleanin...

I left you hanging- waiting for those baby animal pictures, didn't I? Sorry!! The days have been flying by here on the farm and it's been low on the priority list.  The babies will be all grown up before I get them uploaded...  In the meantime: Here is one of the most recent farm projects: Can you guess what this is the start of?
