Matt got to run his dogs in one race this year, and was glad for the opportunity. This was his third time running this particular race that takes place about an hour and a half from home. The exciting part was that this was the first time he got to race some dogs from his litter of puppies in 2019. He had high hopes for these young dogs to be faster, and so far he hasn't been disappointed. Matt, his mushing friend Ruth, and I arrived at the race at sunrise. Grace and Laura came up a bit later, to be a photographer, and dog handler, respectively. Ruth didn't run the race this year- and so she wanted Matt to use her new sled. This year the weather was perfect for racing dogs... it was below zero when we left home that morning, and about 10 degrees when he left the start chute.
