April 3rd

I know the blog has been quiet this past month- but that doesn't mean that things have been quiet here on the farm...  I'll have to do a update blog post soon, but for now here are a couple pictures from today along with some humor from the music studio. 

 Maple syrup-- Sap is running really well this week. Yesterday we collected 250 gallons of sap (3 days worth) and another 160 gallons today.  We boiled down lots of gallons of sap today and will be boiling again tomorrow. 
The sap was nice and clear and it made pretty syrup!

About 5 gallons of fresh syrup made today.

 Since my studio recital is coming up, I've been helping students prepare for it and one of the things we practice briefly is bowing. Here is how the conversation went with one student today:
Me: "When you bow, look at your shoes"
Student: "What if I don't have shoes on?"
Me: "Then look at your toes"
Student: "What if I don't have my toes on?"
Me:"You can take your toes off???"
Student: *giggles*...

You never know what kind of conversations you will have when you teach 5 and 6 year-olds! :)

2020 WY Hunting Trip

My brothers headed to WY in early October on a mule deer hunting trip.  I sent the camera with them, and it came home with lots pictures on it, (good job guys!)   Happy, happy hunters! One of my favorite pictures from their trip. This blog post will features the some of the pictures that they took.  I'm not even going to attempt at the stories. June = Making hay + a few other things!

June has been a bit of blur for this crew! Things have been busy here on the farm and in our family. Busyness + adventures = long blog post  ;) Making Hay... The main focus this month has been making hay, (and along with that, fixing equipment.) We've had a bit of a rocky start this year, since the discbine has had way too many breakdowns [more on this later]. Mom has made quite a number of trips for parts. But we are making progress, and getting close to being done with our first crop of hay. The guys started on the field right across the road from our house. So it was easy to take some pictures for y'all to enjoy. Cutting the first field Oh, the smell of fresh cut grass... Raking Baling Hauling hay When we were making baleage on close fields we just hauled 6 bales at a time. When we started making hay a bit further from home, they were using 2 trucks with trailers, and between the two of them, they could haul 15 bales a trip.  ...
