October has been wet, cool and foggy, but the colored leaves had a long season this year. Most of them have fallen, leaving the trees rather bare -- a sign that another season is on the way. (sigh)

We've had 3 or 4 snows already -- we didn't exactly enjoy them, and two of them left us a couple inches of snow. Thankfully it didn't stay longer than a day, and we had a a few lovely, warmer fall days too (in between the snow storms).
It's been a while since I've posted, and decided it was time to empty the SD card and see what pictures I have to share with you.
I visited friends for a day early in month and we headed up the North Shore of Lake Superior. The weather was cool that day, but the sun peaked out a few times and we enjoyed hiking and some pretty lake views.
I appreciate the 10 years friendship I've had with these 2 gals!
We were blessed to be able to host a missionary couple for two days. It's always great to have missionaries visit and hear about what the Lord is doing all over the world. But this couple was extra special since Dad and Mom served alongside of them in Africa about 30 years ago! We got to see recent pictures of one of the villages where our parents lived and worked, and video footage of some of the bridges that are in major disrepair and quite an ordeal to cross. They brought us dried pineapple from there and it's the best I've ever eaten. :) Grateful for the time we had with them!
The last of this year's haying making happened during the 3rd week of the month. It finally dried out enough to get the last couple fields made. Our hay fields didn't yield very well this year, and so we are all buying hay for the winter. Here is a picture of a semi-load of wrapped large square-bales that Dad got.
Matt got his first deer with a bow. One arrow and he dropped her -- no tracking needed. And after much hard work by the 3 brothers there is now venison in the freezer.
Pork in the sales room has been a big hit lately. We just got some meat back from 3 pigs and some cuts are already sold out. The next batch of porkers have been purchased and in a few months we'll have a good supply of hot dogs and bacon again!
The pullets have been laying for a while now and their eggs are getting bigger!
We've had a busier month with the family band. Our town hall music night, playing for a church about an hour away who reaches out to special needs people (always fun to play there!), and then most recently for the opening evening of missions conference. This last event was a real privilege. We've never played for such a diverse group of people, and what an honor to be able to bring encouragement to native missionaries who are working hard to bring the gospel to people in so many parts of the world. We had a chance to visit with various ones afterwards and that was pretty special. This crew is grateful for opportunities the Lord gives us to share our music and bring encouragement to others.
